A recognized leader in higher education and academic medicine, Dr. Lola Brown is the Associate Dean for Research and a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine. In her role, she supports the growth and expansion of the research enterprise. She has decades of experience as a scientist and academic administrator. A natural problem solver, Dr. Brown’s interdisciplinary training allows her to think across multiple modalities and perspectives to create innovative and effective solutions.

In addition to her work in academic medicine, she has a strong commitment to supporting secondary school and higher education organizations achieve success in in their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) initiatives.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Brown University in biology, her master’s degree from the joint department of biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University, and went on to earn her PhD in biochemistry as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Immediately following the completion of her PhD, Dr. Brown completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biomedical engineering at Yale University.
